Dr. Wen Luo is a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. Her research has long focused on statistical methods to improve the way researchers analyze complex data. Earlier in her career, she focused on multilevel modeling for data with nested and dependent structures. More recently, this interest has expanded to single-case experimental designs, with an emphasis on strengthening causal and statistical inference for individualized intervention research. Dr. Luo is the principal investigator of an Institute of Education Sciences grant that has supported much of the lab’s work on SCED methodology. She is committed to mentoring graduate students and junior researchers, especially as they shape their own methodological questions and research identities. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and traveling with her family.

RISE Lab Team faculty member Wen Luo

Dr. Eunkyeng Baek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. She has expertise in advanced quantitative methods, specifically applying multilevel modeling techniques to small samples or time-series data. She has conducted several initial studies examining the performance of multilevel modeling in analyzing/met-analyzing single-case experimental design and contributed to inform the benefits of using multilevel modeling to analyze SCED data in the field. In addition, she has devoted significant effort to translating research findings into practical guidelines and tutorials, effectively bridging methodology and applied research to support implementation by applied researchers.

Dr. Baek is the Co-Principal Investigator on an Institute of Education Sciences grant that has supported the development of a design-comparable effect size measure for SCED. She also serves as a consulting editor for Behavior Research Methods, where she provides expert review and guidance on manuscripts related to research methodology and quantitative analysis. Moreover, she serves as a co-director of the Educational Research and Evaluation Laboratory (EREL) in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University.

She enjoys outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, and traveling with her family.

Dr. Haoran Li is an assistant professor in the Quantitative Methods in Education (QME) Program in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota. He earned his Doctoral Degree in Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. His research interests lie in multilevel modeling, single-case experimental designs, structural equation modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and their applications in social sciences. His recent methodological work on multilevel modeling has been published in Psychological Methods and Behavior Research Methods, which are top journals in quantitative methods.

RISE Lab Team researcher Haoran Li

Yuancheng Wu is a first-year PhD student in the University of Minnesota, studying in the Quantitative Methods in Education program at Department of Educational Psychology. Her research interests center on multilevel modeling, intensive longitudinal data and single-case experimental design. Yuancheng is dedicated to developing and applying advanced statistical methods to strengthen empirical research in education and psychology. She enjoys time alone, during which she can reflect and generate a lot of ideas. She also likes puzzles, ball games, and video games.

RISE Lab Team graduate student Yuancheng Wu

Xiaoyu Yang is a Ph.D. candidate in Research, Measurement, and Statistics at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on structural equation modeling, longitudinal data analysis, educational measurement, and single-case experimental design. She is particularly interested in methodological issues in latent growth models and parallel process models, including model specification, time centering, and the interpretation of developmental change. Her work also explores methods for extracting, analyzing, and synthesizing evidence from single-case research. Through this work, she aims to advance rigorous and accessible quantitative methods for educational, psychological, and behavioral research.

Lu Chen is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. Her research interests include multilevel modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and single-case experimental designs. Her academic work focuses on applying quantitative methods to empirical research in education and psychology. She is also interested in making statistical methods more accessible to applied researchers. Outside of her academic work, Lu enjoys solving puzzles, painting, hiking, and traveling.

Chendong Li is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Assessment Specialist in the Center for Assessment and Research Studies at James Madison University. Previously, he was a graduate assistant in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. His research interests include longitudinal data analysis, causal inference, count data modeling, and the development of accessible tools for applied research.
